Bow River Fly Fishing Report – August 25, 2020

Bow River water levels have been fairly stable for the past couple days hovering at 110 cms. With the overnight air temperature dropping down to single digits, the fish have had some relief from the day time highs.

The hopper action is still active but is definitely starting to slow; we worked hard for the fish that did take the hoppers and noticed that they were in a little faster water and were more interested in smaller sized yellow hopper patterns, though some fish showed interest in the Butch Caddis. There were also several fish which took the dropper which was a sz. 18 Barr Emerger; so increase your chances with that 20″ dropper. Nymphing worms and leeches didn’t produce for us, but I’m confident smaller nymphs would have enticed a few fish.
